Parish Council Governance: Highway Contractor Penalties & Flaxon Walk Parking Bay

Confirmed that the disabled parking bay at Flaxon Walk was completed that day, ahead of the anticipated timescale. Reported that LGR will affect highway maintenance contractors. Advised that, from September, if highway repairs are carried out to an unsatisfactory standard, councillors should report them to him. New reporting arrangements will be introduced, and contractors may face financial penalties for poor-quality work. Confirmed he is happy to assist by reporting highway issues where necessary.

County Council Reports £60m SEND Budget Overspend

Reported that Cambridgeshire County Council is forecasting a £60 million overspend on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), representing around 50% of the service's budget. Advised that, despite the significant overspend, there has not yet been any noticeable improvement in the service and encouraged councillors to report any specific SEND issues so that they can be raised. Cllr S. White suggested that it may be worthwhile contacting the local school to discuss any SEND-related concerns and gather further information.
