Welcome to this week’s school newsletter! We are incredibly proud to be able to share our newly elected School Council members and would like to congratulate each of our worthy winners. A huge well done must also go to all of the children who put themselves forward. The confidence, enthusiasm and determination shown during the campaign process were truly impressive. From creating thoughtful speeches to sharing their ideas with classmates, every candidate should be proud of the way they represented themselves and their peers. We would also like to thank all of the children who took part in the voting process. The School Council elections were decided solely by pupil votes, providing our children with a valuable opportunity to experience a democratic election and select the representatives they felt would best serve their school community. Congratulations once again to our newly elected School Council members, and thank you to everyone who took part in making the elections such a positive and successful event. We look forward to seeing all the fantastic work our School Council will achieve this year.

Important News and Reminders Year 4 Residential Visit to Grafham Water We are pleased to let Year 4 parents and carers know that deposits are now payable via the MCAS app for our exciting residential visit to Grafham Water , taking place from Monday 28th June to Wednesday 30th June 2027. To secure your child’s place, a non- refundable deposit of £75 is required. Once the deposit has been paid, the remaining balance can be paid in monthly instalments through MCAS. We hope that offering the opportunity to spread the cost over an extended period will help make budgeting for the visit a little easier for families. We are very much looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic and memorable experience for our Year 4 children! Remembrance Day – Uniformed Organisations As part of our Remembrance Day commemorations , we would like to invite any children who are members of a uniformed service organisation, such as Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Brownies, Cadets, St John Ambulance , or a similar group, to proudly wear their service uniform to school on Wednesday 11th November . Children who are not members of a uniformed organisation should attend school in their usual school uniform We look forward to coming together as a school community to mark this important occasion and to reflect upon and remember the sacrifices made by those who have served, and those who continue to serve. Children in Need 2026 – Dress Up and Donate! We’re excited to support Children in Need again this year with a fun challenge for all pupils! On Friday 13th November , children are invited to come to school dressed in something bright, cheerful, and smile-inducing—from Pudsey-themed outfits to superheroes or their own creative designs. Alongside their joyful attire, we kindly ask for a small donation to help raise funds for this amazing cause, supporting children and young people across the UK. Let’s celebrate creativity, kindness, and community spirit! Win a Giant Pudsey Bear! 🐻 As part of our fundraising, we are delighted to offer children the exciting opportunity to win a Giant Pudsey Bear! Children can enter the prize draw by making a £1 donation per entry. On Friday 13th November , one number will be selected at random and the lucky ticket holder will take home the Giant Pudsey Bear. Donations can be made online or directly through the School Office . We hope lots of our children will get involved and help us raise as much as possible for this fantastic cause. Thank you for your continued generosity and support, and good luck to all our entrants! 🐻💛 Reminder: School Gates at Drop- Off & Collection A polite reminder to all parents and carers that the Visitor Gate at the front of the school is for visitors and latecomers only. For the safety of our children and to help keep arrival and collection times running smoothly, all parents and carers dropping off or collecting children should use the designated side gates. We kindly ask that you do not use the Visitor Gate as an entrance or exit during normal drop-off and collection times. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us keep our school site safe, secure and well organised. Birthday Treats & Food in School Following careful consideration, we have decided that sweets, chocolates, cakes or other food treats should not be brought into school to share with classmates , including for birthdays and other celebrations. This is to help us keep all children safe, particularly those with serious or potentially life- threatening allergies. We also kindly remind families that packed lunches should contain healthy choices and must not include sweets or chocolate . As we operate a nut-free approach , please do not send in foods containing nuts, including peanut butter, Nutella, cereal bars containing nuts or products labelled “may contain nuts.” We absolutely want children to feel special on their birthdays! Families are welcome to consider non-food alternatives , such as stickers, small stationery items or donating a birthday book to the class or school library. Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us keep every child safe and included. YDP Wraparound Provision: Booking Reminder A reminder to parents and carers wishing to book their child into the wraparound provision provided by YDP that all bookings must be made directly through the YDP booking platform, which can be found HERE . Please note that YDP is a separate provider , and therefore the school office is unable to make or manage bookings on behalf of families Places are limited, so we strongly encourage families to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. If you need to make a same-day booking , this must be completed through the YDP booking platform by 1.00pm at the latest . We are also pleased to share that YDP has informed us that they will be taking on an additional member of staff on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays , which will increase capacity and allow more spaces to become available on these days Thank you for your cooperation and for ensuring all bookings are made directly with YDP. Uniform Donations We are very grateful for all the uniform donations we receive. However, we kindly ask that parents and carers do not bring any more uniform donations into school at this time, as we currently have plenty of stock. The only items we are still able to accept are clean, good-condition uniform with the school logo , specifically: Jumpers and cardigans PE tops Hoodies Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Attendance Update As we begin the new academic year, we are introducing a few updates to our attendance procedures to support pupils' success and celebrate excellent attendance. Medical appointments will continue to be authorised only when appointment confirmation is provided to the school office. Optician appointments will no longer be authorised from September, as these can usually be arranged outside school hours. We are also delighted to launch our Termly Attendance Pizza Parties (TAPP). Pupils achieving 98% attendance or above each term will be invited to a special pizza party during the final week of term and will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a £50 Amazon voucher. At Warboys Primary Academy, we know that good attendance plays a vital role in children's academic achievement, social development and wellbeing. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend school regularly and arrive on time, giving them the very best opportunity to thrive. Term-time leave We appreciate that unexpected events can happen, and we’re always here to support families where possible. However, Cambridgeshire County Council and the Department for Education require schools to authorise leave only in exceptional circumstances —meaning rare, unavoidable events. Routine family holidays or planned trips unfortunately do not meet this threshold. Secondary 2027 Transition 🎓 Secondary School Applications – September 2027 A reminder to Year 6 parents and carers that applications for a secondary school place for September 2027 should be submitted online by 31 October 2026 . Key dates: Application deadline: National Offer Day: 1 March 2027 Applications received after 31 October will be classed as late , with offers made on 23 April 2027 Parents and carers of twins, triplets or other multiple births must complete a separate application for each child. Families living outside Cambridgeshire should apply through their home local authority . Information about secondary schools, open evenings and admissions criteria can be found on the Cambridgeshire County Council website.

At our school, we are proud to support our Young Carers and recognise the important role they play within their families. We work closely with Centre 33 to provide external support, while internally we offer fortnightly Young Carers sessions where children can come together to chat, share experiences, take part in activities, and relax in a supportive environment. Led by Miss Coles and Mrs Flisher, with support from Mr Bostock, these sessions help ensure our Young Carers feel valued, understood, and supported. We are also committed to raising awareness across the school community and celebrating the dedication, resilience, and compassion shown by our Young Carers every day. Please follow the link below to flag any child that you may deem to be a Young Carer. A Young Carer is a child young person who helps to look after a family member who may have an illness, disability, mental health difficulty, or who may need extra support for another reason. This care can include practical tasks, emotional support, or helping siblings, and it may take place before or after the school day. We recognise that these responsibilities can sometimes impact a child’s wellbeing, learning, and emotional needs. All conversations and responses will be treated sensitively and in confidence. A Word from the P.T.F.A 💛 Could you help keep our PTFA going? Our PTFA is a wonderful part of the Warboys Primary Academy community, helping to bring exciting events and opportunities to our children while raising much-needed funds for the school.However, we urgently need more parents and carers to get involved. Following several of our valued committee members stepping down as their children finished at the school last year, we are now facing a very real challenge. We are losing our Treasurer, along with other experienced members, and without enough people willing to step forward, we may have no choice but to fold the PTFA. We really don't want that to happen. You might think you need lots of free time or previous experience to join the PTFA, you don't! We need people who can help in whatever way they can. That could mean helping at an event, coming along with ideas, taking on a committee role, helping with fundraising, or simply lending a hand occasionally. Every person who gets involved makes the workload lighter for everyone else — and helps us continue providing those extra experiences and opportunities for our children. 📅 PTFA AGM Tuesday 13th October at 6pm: Warboys Primary Academy Please come along, even if you're unsure how you could help. Parent representatives highlighted the high utility of weekly digital newsletters and requested continued consolidation of school event schedules into digital calendar feeds.
